In the Wendell G. Haynie Pavilion, “The Butler Boats of the Chesapeake” is a free-standing display of four of the wooden Chesapeake skiffs built by three generations of the Butler family who owned the Reedville Maritime Railway. The boats are a testament to the disappearing art of wooden boat building – they are charming examples of sturdy construction and local materials.
The pavilion is available for small outdoor functions like receptions, memorials, parties, lectures, meetings, and workshops. Museum events, such as the annual “Family Boat Building” weekend, are also hosted under the pavilion
