Curatorial: Collections, Research Library & Archives

Example of our Artifacts: a Snatch Block

Like most Museums, the RFM has collections of artifacts, books, photographs, artwork and, in our case, Nautically-themed memorabilia and natural specimens. From Native American points to 21st century mechanical systems, the Museum collects items relating to the “life and times” of the men and women of the Lower Chesapeake and waters surrounding Reedville.

Example of our Archives - A period sepia photograph of Mr. and Mrs. George Butler

An early 20th century photograph, one of many here at the Museum

Our small Research Library

If you are interested in working on a long-range collections inventory, contact the museum at 804-453-6529 or office@rfmuseum.org. We’re organizing our files, taking pictures of each artifact, putting the research library in order, and getting our photos placed on line.
