Lecture

Periodically
the RFM sponsors a series of lectures covering a wide
variety of subjects of interest to Chesapeake Bay area
residents and visitors. The series usually focuses on
such areas as the history of watermen and the fishing
industry, as well as the latest status of programs affecting
the Bay. Watch for announcement of future Lectures.

Family
Day
In
2008 the RFM started this event with the goal of encouraging
families to come together and learn more about the daily
life that surrounds them. The theme for 2009 was "The
Chesapeake Bay - A Partnership of Humans and Nature."
Local experts and museum volunteers provided hands-on
science activities, history lessons, the latest data,
interactive displays, and facilitated Q&As. Featured
topics were:
•
Geological History of The Bay's Formation
• The Chesapeake Bay Watershed
• The Bay's Ecosystem
• Habitats of All Sizes and Shapes
• Living Resources and Biological Communities
• Food Production, Collection, and Consumption
– The Ecological Impact
The
2010 Family Day centered around the fauna in our area.
Note:
Family Day will not be held in 2011 due to the birthday
activities for the Claude W. Somers.
